Five (5) Young Voices members from Manila (namely Gesila De Gracia, Daisylen Abelar, Domingo Arrizabal , Ronalyn Silverio , and Irene Latag)  took part in the  “Sulong Leadership Workshop”, which was  sponsored by World Youth Alliance (WYA).

Ms. Renelyn Tan, Regional Director of WYA Philippines talked about the importance of human dignity and freedom. The discussion focused on the three (3) main issues: child labor, violence against women and abortion. The participants gained a deeper awareness about these important social issues.

WYA is composed of young men and women (mostly non-PWDs) coming from different parts of the world. It was founded by Ms. Anna Halpine in 1999.

They have different chapters in Belgium, Kenya, USA, Philippines and New York. WYA has 3 main thrusts: Advocacy, Training, and Culture.  Other youth groups such as SIGA and Philippine Science High School representatives also attended the said workshop.
