February is the National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month – and we encourage everyone to participate in raising awareness, supporting rights, and promoting the well-being of people with Down Syndrome.
Down Syndrome or trisomy 21 is a chromosomal condition in which the extra copy of chromosome 21 affects the mental and physical development of a child.
Like everybody else, they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. One way of showing respect to those with Down Syndrome is by correctly addressing them.
The proper way to address those people with Down Syndrome is “A person, a child, or an adult with Down Syndrome”.
