On April 17 – 19, 2012, Leonard Cheshire Disability Philippines Foundation, Inc. (LCDPFI) will organize a Regional Consultation on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) with the theme “Eye-Watch on UNCRPD: Kabataan, Kasama Ka sa Pagbabago” to be held in DENR Social Hall Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. This will be participated by 50 youth leaders, coming from NCR, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The said Regional Consultation primarily aims to involve the youth with disabilities (YWDs) to produce a comprehensive report from the youth with disabilities sector on the status of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities (UNCRPD) in the Philippines, to complement the Government Report to the CRPD Committee 2008-2011 as experienced by YWDs.
Deadline for submission of applications is on March 15, 2012. Registration fee is Php 300.00, including (A) Conference Kit (B). Modules and Manuals.
Please note that all other travel expenses and allowances before and after the Regional Consultation will be the sole responsibility of the participant / school / organization / local government units. Participant’s meals, snacks and lodging will be shouldered by LCDPFI – Young Voices.
The theme “Eye-Watch on UNCRPD: Kabataan, Kasama Ka sa Pagbabago” is designed for youth leaders with disabilities who qualify based from the following criteria:
a. He/she must be from age 16-23 years old
b. He/she must be a member of a disability organization and involved in Advocacy of PWD rights.
c. He/she must have good knowledge on UNCRPD.
d. He/she must be endorsed by local government unit / school / university.
